Rich Schimizzi, 70, of Unity holds an 8-point buck he harvested on the opening day of rifle season. He brought it to Loyalhanna’s Weimer Meats, which expects to take in 100 to 200 on Saturday.

Just before 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Don Henry heard branches cracking near his hunting blinds in the woods near New Alexandria.
