The Westmoreland County Park Police Department is currently accepting applications for part-time employment (29 hours/week). Applicants must be ACT 120 certified. Starting salary is $12.50/hour. Upon successful completion of a sixty (60) working day probation period, the hourly rate is increased to $18.78/hour. The county will provide each newly hired officer with an initial uniform/equipment allotment to include firearm. Officers are also entitled to a bulletproof vest and uniform allowance after their probation period. After one (1) year of service with the county, officers will accrue five (5) sick days and one (1) week of vacation.
The department provides police services for all Westmoreland County employees, residents, and visitors. The department is responsible for four (4) county parks, Arnold Palmer Regional Airport, Westmoreland County Community College, Westmoreland County Courthouse Complex, Westmoreland County Juvenile Detention Center and the Westmoreland County Manor.
