Prohibition thinned ranks of Western Pa. distilleries, breweries — but some survived

Southwestern Pennsylvania’s whiskey industry overflowed with more than 100 distilleries making rye whiskey between the 1880s and early 1900s, but they went dry when Prohibition took effect a century ago.
