Pirates great Dick Groat dead at 92

The 325 on the bat held by shortstop Dick Groat of the Pittsburgh Pirates stands for the batting average that won him the National League batting championship.

Dick Groat, the National League MVP for the 1960 World Series champion Pittsburgh Pirates and a college Hall of Fame two-sport star, died early Thursday morning at UPMC Presbyterian hospital, the Groat family announced. He was 92.
