Native planting will help the wild to reclaim Murrysville acid mine remediation site

Clockwise from the left: Murrysville Area Watershed Association Program Manager Melissa Church, Westmoreland Conservancy Executive Director Shelly Tichy, Pennsylvania Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation employee Jean Keene and Green Forest Works Mined Land Reforestation Specialist Eric Oliver dig holes and plant chestnut saplings at the site of an acid mine remediation project in Murrysville this week.

To a passerby, it probably looked like the volunteers wandering a soggy Murrysville meadow one morning this week were just pushing muddy sticks into the ground.
