Mount Pleasant historic house tour includes log buildings, industrialists' mansions

Built in 1812, the Thomas Hurst House is located along Hecla Road in Mount Pleasant Township. Now back in private hands, it was included in property purchased by the federal government in 1934 to create the New Deal community of Norvelt.

Mt. Pleasant-area homes that have endured for generations will be showcased this month during the Westmoreland Historical Society’s latest Historic House Tour.
