Housing Navigator- Department of Human Services

Westmoreland County is seeking applicants for the position of Housing Navigator in The Department of Human Services.  The Housing Navigator will play a crucial role in helping individuals and families maintain, locate, and secure safe and stable housing.  This position will also work closely with all DHS departments by assisting with clients, providing support, guidance, and resources to help navigate the complex landscape of finding and maintaining suitable housing.  Additionally, this role involves collaborating with case managers across all branches of the Department of Human Services (DHS) to enhance their ability to address housing issues effectively.Key Responsibilities:Conduct thorough assessments of individuals and families housing crisis to determine their immediate needs and develop appropriate intervention plans.Provide information, referrals, and direct assistance in accessing housing resources.Engage in street outreach activities to identify and connect with homeless individuals and families, building trusting relationships, and offering support.Collaborate with local shelters, housing agencies, and other community resources to endure effective housing placement and ongoing support services.Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client interactions, services provided, and housing outcomes using designated case management systems.Provide crises intervention, de-escalation, support and referrals for clients experiencing emotional destress or other challenging situations.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, human services, or a related field required.Experience in housing services, crisis intervention, case management, or related areas.Familiarity with local housing resources, community networks, and social service agencies.Experience working with individuals and families experiencing homelessness or housing instability.Strong communication, organizational, and computer skills.Empathy and understanding of diverse backgrounds and experiences.Crisis intervention and conflict resolution abilities.Knowledge of housing laws, policies, and resources.Applications, resumes, and cover letters should be sent to:Human Resources2 N.
