Fire companies faced lack of hydrants in South Huntingdon blaze

Firefighters responded to a basement fire that spread through a home on Boy Scout Road in South Huntingdon Township last Friday. Tanker trucks from departments in the region responded to transport water from a hydrant more than a mile from the scene.

The 10 fire companies that responded to a destructive house fire in South Huntington Township last week were challenged by a lack of nearby fire hydrants, according to Turkeytown Volunteer Fire Department chief Dan Pergola Jr.
