Director of Elections – Election Bureau

Westmoreland County is seeking applicants for the position of Director of Elections.   The purpose of this position is to manage the activities of the County Election Bureau. Job duties include planning, directing and coordinating registration of voters and certifying election results while adhering to all Federal and State regulations, processing of new registrations and assigning them to the correct voting district, and managing of all election bureau staff and assignments.  In addition this position will be required to disseminate information to the general public regarding voter registration and election information, preparing and distributing voting lists for candidates use, preparing ballots and maintaining adequate supplies for the election, and insure that all polling places are reserved and that an adequate number of workers are available.

A Bachelor’s degree in general studies is required. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science is preferred. Applicants must have three (3) to four (4) years working experience in elections, computers and knowledge of Election Code, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.

County residency must be established within 180 days and maintained throughout employment.  Resumes, cover letters, and salary requirements should be sent to:
