Diners sample reborn rye whiskey at West Overton Village

Harlan Overholt (left) of Pasadena, Calif., and his wife, Stanislava, join in a whiskey toast during a dinner Friday, held to present the first results of the reintroduced rye whiskey distillation at West Overton Village in East Huntingdon. Harlan is the second cousin, seven times removed, of Abraham Overholt, who began commercial distilling of whiskey at the site in 1810.

A hundred guests gathered Friday in the lower level of the West Overton Village museum to dine on a catered meal and sample the first barrel of rye whiskey distilled at the East Huntingdon site since 1919.
