IF YOU HAVE A PASSION FOR HELPING CHILDREN AND FAMILIES, THE WESTMORELAND COUNTY CHILDREN’S BUREAU IS INTERSTED IN TALKING TO YOU!You will make a real difference every day by providing care and hope to the most vulnerable populations in Westmoreland County.  We need you – apply today! DESCRIPTION OF WORKThe County Social Worker 1 conducts an individual assessment of the independent living needs of eligible children and develops an independent living case plan based on that assessment.  This position is responsible for providing services related to education and vocational training, such as career planning, preparation for GED or higher education, job readiness, job search assistance, job placement, tutoring or other remedial education, and job follow-up activities.  These activities are provided both individually and during workshops.This employee in this position also provides programs and services in basic living skills, such as money management, home management, consumer skills, identifying and using community resources, decision making, time management, and communications skills. The employee conducts individual and group counseling as well as workshops and conferences to promote self-esteem, self-confidence, development of interpersonal and social skills, preparation for transition to independence, and termination from substitute care.
