County Caseworker I and II – Children's Bureau

Westmoreland County Children’s Bureau is looking for organized, intelligent, and caring people to fill several County Caseworker 1 and Caseworker 2 positions.  Caseworkers will be expected to meet with families and children and address concerns of child abuse and neglect, and develop a case plan to help those affected overcome barriers that may lead to child abuse or neglect.  This is a full-time professional casework position responsible to provide a full range of social and case management services to children, youth, and families to assist them in attending a more satisfactory social, economic, emotional, or physical adjustment.  An important aspect of this work is the employment of casework skills in obtaining essential information, counseling clients and members of their families, and helping them utilize all available resources.  Located in Westmoreland County, we have an ample array of social services agencies working in collaboration with our agency.  We here at the Westmoreland County Children’s Bureau are committed to quality care and services. Individuals interested in pursuing a career in the field of child welfare should follow the following steps:Go to the State Employment website at www.employment.pa.gov and choose “Open Jobs”, then “Open to Public”To see current Westmoreland County position postings, use the filter option “location” and choose Westmoreland County.  All current Westmoreland County civil positions will be listed.  If County Caseworker 1 or 2 are listed, please click and apply.All  interested individuals are also asked to submit a resume to Aimee Heater at AHeater@westmorelandcountypa.gov.  If there is not a current civil service posting and Aimee has received a resume, she will reach out to all interested candidates when a position post goes live.Caseworker 1: Minimum Experience and Training: Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; orA bachelor’s degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; orAny equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.Caseworker 2: Minimum Experience and Training: Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; orSuccessful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; orA bachelor’s degree with a social welfare major; or A bachelor’s degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social service agency; orAny equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.
