Corrections Counselor- Westmoreland County Prison Westmoreland County Prison is seeking applicants for the position of Correction Counselor. The purpose of the position is to assess areas of need/risk of the offender, identify appropriate resources for the individual while serving their sentence, and facilitate an interdisciplinary approach to treatment to ensure effective case planning. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:Assess inmates needs for programs that are offered at the prison; make recommendations to judges for inmates based upon those needsWork with inmates for a reentry plan for releaseAssists court and prison staff in regards to scheduling and holding phone conferences with courtrooms in regards to criminal, civil, and family court cases. Provides paperwork for new inmates, as well as recertifications. Keeps in contact with PSP and WCP records department in regards to paperwork. Applicants must have a Bachelors degree in criminal justice, or related field, Act 151 clearances, and a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license. Additionally, the candidate should have 2-4 years’ experience working as a probation officer, correctional officer or similar in a correctional setting.
