Church compensation fund dredges up old agonies for onetime altar boy

Jack, a former altar boy who was abused by a trusted priest as a child, holds a photo he shot of workmen sandblasting the tower at St. Peter’s Cathedral in Erie at night. He likened the process the church has set up for compensating survivors to cleaning the outside of a building. He wonders whether the institution he once trusted has scoured deep enough to end the scourge of child sexual abuse.
