Chief Assessor

Westmoreland County Tax Assessment office is looking to fill the role of Chief Assessor. Primary responsibilities include supervising the staff and directing the work of the Assessment Office; to evaluate all County real estate/property and determine a tax value on land, buildings and improvements. Acts as the director for the County’s Real Property Tax Division. Other responsibilities include but are limited to developing and analyzing the office budget, assess, analyze, and evaluate property, changes, or appeals on property and assure results are recorded in correct system, answer questions and resolve problems regarding real estate and valuations to property owners and the general public, and represent the County on legal matters related to assessment appeals. This position will also be required to interact with other County departments, local tax collectors, school districts, municipal governments, and State and Federal offices on various tax matters. Qualifications:Candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in a field that requires the use of statistical analysis, Master’s level course work in property assessment, real estate law or a related area. They must also hold a Certified PA Evaluators license and recertify every two years.   The Candidate must have at least five (5) years’ experience in appraisal of real estate property for tax purpose, real estate and assessment principals, or any acceptable combination and experiences, education, and training. Candidate must have and maintain a current valid Pennsylvania’s Driver’s license. Resumes and applications should be sent to:Human Resources2 N.
