Associate Engineer, Title 75 (Roads & Bridges)

Westmoreland County is seeking applicants for the position of Associate Engineer. The main objective is to assist the coordination and design of engineering activities and to perform field inspections.

Job Duties:

Provide assistance to the County Engineer
Monitor and assist crews during projects in process
Assists with preparing designs and specifications related to construction projects as assigned.
Performs construction inspections, road and bridge inspections, and dam inspections, and prepares reports to summarize findings.
Performs surveying field work and computations as required.
Prepares bid documents, material costs and material estimations.
Performs computer engineering drawing operations.

Skills Needed:

Must be able to speak and understand English language in order to carry out essential job duties.
Must possess ability to function independently, have flexibility and the ability to work effectively with the public, co-workers and others.
Technical knowledge to operate a computer and other office equipment at an intermediate to advanced skill level.
Must possess the ability to speak in front of large groups and present information in a satisfactory manner.
Must possess basic knowledge of civil engineering and surveying.
Must possess knowledge of Microstation/InRoads and /or AutoCAD software.
Must possess the knowledge of GIS
Must be able to perform math calculations at an intermediate to advanced level.

Applicants must have an Associate’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field. A valid PA Drivers license is required along with 2-4 years of civil engineering and surveying. County Residency is required.
