Assistant Public Defender

Westmoreland County is seeking an Assistant Public Defender to work within our Public Defender’s Office. The primary responsibilities of this position are to represent individuals charged with crimes. The representation can start as early as the Preliminary Hearing stage and continues on through the appellate courts.  The representation includes the investigation of the charges by our investigator to ensure that all possible defenses are explored. An assistant Public defender will also be responsible for representing individuals accused of violating a Protection from Abuse orders, violating a support order, juveniles accused of committing crimes, violating the terms of probation or parole, and those involuntarily committed for mental health treatment.   They will also be required to insure that the rights of the indigent are protected.Pennsylvania Licensed Attorneys with interest may submit resumes/applications toWayne McGrewPublic Defender2 N.
