Assistant County Solicitor

Westmoreland County is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant County Solicitor – Children’s Bureau.  Job duties include the following:Represent the Westmoreland County Children’s Bureau at Termination of Parental Rights Hearings and Adoption Hearings; prepare petitions and motions associated with those hearings; attend and conduct meetings with Children’s Bureau staff in preparation of cases and hearings; conduct Shelter Care, Dependency and Permanency Hearings; assist and/or attend Bureau of Hearings and Appeals hearing;  provide advice to caseworkers and Children’s Bureau staff; work with and offer guidance to paralegal staff; and perform such additional duties as may be assigned by the Children’s Bureau Chief Solicitor. Applicants must have a Juris Doctorate or equivalent Law degree, must be licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania, and have a minimum of two to four years of experience practicing civil law.  Previous trial work and experience with the Child Protective Service Law, the Juvenile Act, the Adoption and Safe Families Act and applicable regulations are preferred.Resumes, cover letters, and salary requirements should be sent to:Melissa A.
