Assistant Chief Clerk

Assistant Chief Clerk Westmoreland County is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Chief Clerk for the County Commissioner’s Office. The purpose of the position is to perform administrative and secretarial tasks to support the County Commissioner’s offices and the Chief Clerk. Job duties include but are not limited to:Assists County Commissioners in a variety of administrative and secretarial projects and duties as assigned.In the absence of the Chief Clerk, records and transcribes minutes for meetings including, but not limited to, Commissioners and Department Head meetings.In the absence of the Chief Clerk, maintains official Commissioners Meeting minute booksMaintains records, files and statistics and information required by the Department.Maintains accurate records of County Boards and Authorities.Schedules the use of meeting rooms by various groups.Acts as office receptionist and liaison between the Commissioners and the public regarding public concerns or issues.Types reports, letters, memos, proclamations, and other documents as needed on typewriter or computer; prepares required reports as directed.Reviews correspondence, reports, news sources or publications and informs Commissioners of ensuing developments and/or problems.Organizes and oversees various special events such as Child Government Day, etc.Job Requirements:High School diploma or equivalent, plus a strong understanding of Microsoft Office. Associates degree preferred.
