As Irwin-area Catholics lament Rev. Moineau's reassignment, New Kensington flock awaits his arrival

Rays from the sun shine down on a sign asking people to pray for the Rev. John Moineau, a former priest at Immaculate Conception Parish in Irwin, who suffers from pancreatic cancer. Moineau was reassigned to parishes in New Kensington and Lower Burrell by Bishop Larry Kulick, after failure to do a complete background check on a church cemetery worker. The sign is across Second Street from Immaculate Conception Church.

As Irwin-area Catholics lament the loss of a beloved longtime pastor, their counter­parts in the New Kensington area say they are happy to gain a fourth priest in their parish.
