18th-century life displayed during Pennsylvania Charter Day at Bushy Run Battlefield

Michael O’Donnell of Penn Hills, right, a member of the reenactment group Ourry’s Company - 60th Royal American Regiment, explains details of the 1763 Battle of Bushy Run to Brad Tomasello of Vandergrift on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at the historic Penn Township battlefield’s visitor center. Free tours were offered during the site’s celebration of Pennsylvania Charter Day.

A British victory in the 1763 Battle of Bushy Run helped to prevent a takeover of Fort Pitt, the fortification that would grow into Pennsylvania’s major western city — Pittsburgh.
