Westmoreland history tucked away in archives

A Westmoreland County document from 1773 in which then-Lt. Governor Richard Penn appointed Arthur St. Clair recorder of deeds. It was signed by King George III of Great Britain. St. Clair was a Revolutionary War soldier involved in founding Westmoreland County.

The oldest documents kept by Westmoreland County show its burgeoning creation as well as its dark history.
