Westmoreland at 250: Celebrations marking county's milestone anniversary planned throughout year

Historic Hanna’s Town in Hempfield, a recreation of the 18th century village that served as Westmoreland County’s first seat of government, will host an April 6 Founder’s Day event that is part of the county’s 250th anniversary celebration.

Westmoreland County’s origins date to 212 centuries ago when local pioneering settlers wanted their own courthouse instead of having to trek to Bedford to settle legal disputes.
