Westmoreland County Victim/Witness Services/District Attorney’s Office is seeking applicants for the position of Victim/Witness Advocate. This is a professional position responsible for victim services provided to victim/witnesses in the juvenile and criminal justice system. Skills needed:Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.A working knowledge of the Adult Criminal Justice System and the Juvenile Justice System and the functions of the different agencies within the system.Basic knowledge of crisis intervention skills.To be a highly motivated self-starter, demonstrate initiative and accomplish objectives without extensive supervisory input.Criminal, FBI, Child Abuse Clearances as well as drug test are requiredJob Duties:Ensure that crime victims are afforded their rights under the Pennsylvania Victim’s Bill of Rights.Provide orientation to the criminal and juvenile justice system.Act as a liaison between police, victims and Assistant District Attorneys.Provide accompaniment to medical facilities.Provide court accompaniment, especially in cases of serious personal injury, feloniously assaultive crimes or extensive property loss, to persons involved in the Criminal and Juvenile Justice System. Court accompaniment extends to family members of victims as well as witnesses.Assist victims of crime in recovering financial losses due to the crime through restitution and/or Victims Compensation Assistance.Accurately document services provided in required computer systems and data bases. Applicants must have Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and/or Social Work related field with 1 year of experience in victim services or an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice and/or Social Work related field with 3 years of experience or training in the victim services field which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.Interested candidates should send resume and county application to;Human Resources2 N.
