Trafford resident takes on local West Nile virus monitoring

Christina Edwards-McCune was hired in May 2022 as the West Nile virus program technician for the Westmoreland Conservation District. Here she displays a gravid trap used to collect mosquitoes to be tested for infection with the virus.

Mosquito season has arrived in Westmoreland County and, just in time, so has a new staffer to oversee monitoring of those insects for the West Nile virus they can spread.
