Shapiro announces investment in Hempfield site, touts proposed program expansion

Gov. Josh Shapiro speaks during a visit to the Bovard neighborhood of Hempfield to announce how $10.6 million in SITES — Strategic Investments to Enhance Sites — funding will help attract businesses and create jobs Thursday. The Westmoreland County Industrial Development Corporation is receiving $2.5 million.

As he looked over a former mining and industrial site in the Bovard section of Hempfield, Gov. Josh Shapiro saw much more than just a faded field.
