JROTC walk remembers Bataan, benefits Westmoreland War on Terror monument

Event organizer Shaylie Cuthbert (second left, on bicycle), 16, of North Huntingdon, a cadet in the Norwin Air Force Junior ROTC program, provides last-minute instructions on Saturday<ins>,</ins><ins> March 7, 2020,</ins> to other area JROTC members as they prepare to start a 14-mile charity walk along the Westmoreland Heritage Trail. It began at B-Y Park in Trafford. The walk honored World War II service members who were forced to endure the Bataan Death March and raised money for a proposed monument for veterans of the current War on Terror.

A chill was in the air Saturday morning as about 60 Junior ROTC cadets marched out of Trafford’s B-Y Park.
