County Caseworker I and II – Children's Bureau

The Westmoreland County Children’s Bureau currently has openings for County Caseworker I and II (Local Government). These are full-time substitute positions. Employees will work 37.5 hours per week, plus overtime, plus benefits after County Probation (45-Working Days).

Minimum Qualifications for Caseworker I
A bachelor’s degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; OR 2 years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and 2 years of college-level coursework which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences, and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions

Minimum Qualifications for Caseworker II
Six months of experience as
a County Caseworker 1; Or Successful completion of the County Social
Casework Intern program; Or A bachelor’s degree with a social welfare
major; Or A bachelor’s degree which includes or is supplemented by 12
college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal
justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social
casework experience in a public or private social services agency; Or Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social services agency; Or any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences .
You may substitute appropriate experience for the required education, except for the 12 college-level credits in the specified areas, or appropriate education for experience.  Unrelated experience or education will not be accepted

Job duties

Managing a Children and Youth Services caseload, developing Service Plans for families, completing comprehensive safety and risk assessment for families, testifying in court, interviewing children and families with regards to child abuse and neglect, working collaboratively as a team with community service providers, and professionally documenting contacts and relevant information.
